We have been
out and about looking for some fun addtions to the yard including working
liveries for ponies and larger horses. We are looking out for experienced
school masters in dressage and jumping so watch this space. We have had
four new arrivals at the yard who are settling in well, and more recently
two more!

Louis, the grey in the middle, is a high speed games pony who trialled
for the England team with a previous owner and played Polocrosse with
the Bedford PC before returning to the Burghley area and being lent
to the Burghley team to compete next to Dino his yard mate at the
Pony Club Championships Polocrosse tournament in 2009. Once Louis
had the ball no-one could catch him and when it came to defending,
his speed and agility made Dino's life really easy! The 2010
Pony Club Championships saw him competing as part of the Burghley
Polocrosse Team and the Prince Philip Cup Burghley Games team.
He was nominated as a mount for the International competion in the
afternoon. |

Dino is a fantastic hunting and jumping pony who loves polocrosse.
He went with the Burghley team to the Pony Club Championships in 2009
competing in the junior class with ponies up to 14.2 hh. His
nimbleness and speed supported by his yard fellow Louis (who is even
speedier) and Roan Rocket Pete who defends so well meant that the
team won their final match 8-0 finishing 5th. In the Pony Club
2010 Polocrosse Championships the team came a magnificent third. Well
done Dino Louis and Pete. |

Shadow is a firm favourite
at the yard. He competed at the Centres competition at the Pony
Club Championships in 2008. Bulby's Saddle Club members have
given him the thumbs up. He competed at the Pony Club Championships
in 2009 in Polocrosse and his team placed 4th in the Mini's section
of the competition with Natasha. He went to Cambridge along
with the Burghley Pony Club squad to the Polocrosse training.
He enjoys jumping and games and is a good alrounder. Pictured
below at the Pony Club Championships.

Co-co is another lovely riding pony. He has enjoyed competitions
with his previous owner. At Bulby he has done games and polocrosse
and is very sweet to handle. He is such a sweetie. He
goes forward when asked but does not rush! |
 |
Freckles is a kind sweet gentle allrounder.
She is settled and enjoys life with the riders at Bulby.
She is quite forward going and fun to ride, and can be cheeky if
the riders don't get the steering right. |

Mary
Mary is a beautiful Irish
Draft and is big hit with the older riders. She is beautifully mannered
and enjoys dressage. The taller and more advanced riders love her.
She pops a small jump and has enjoyed trips to local shows and to
the Pony Club Championships. She has hunted with the Cottesmore
and done our local sponsored Grimsthorpe ride which the yard organises
in support of St. John Ambulance in Lincolnshire. She was a member
of the Pony Club Centre team in 2008 and 2009 (she went clear showjumping
in 2009). She is beginning to jump well. (With King of Diamonds
in her ancestry we hope so!) Thank you Allyson for letting
her come to the yard. She continues munching haylage in the stable
looking out over the Lincolnshire countryside. |

Threekingham show 2008,
Mary's first jumping outing, she went double clear with Emily who
also rode clear with her at the Pony Club Championships Centre competition....we
were so excited we forgot to take photographs there!
This is Mary's first year
of jumping have spent time concentrating on dressage with her previous
owner. |

Buster
He is a real fun pony.
He schools, jumps and hacks. He was a real star when some
of the clients took him to a show, jumping lots of clear rounds
and doing very well in the gymkhana games.
He has been a fabulous
pony at the school and is part of the leasing scheme at the yard
where he is adopted by a family to treat as their own on working
livery. His jockey Matthew loves him, so does Matthews mum
and they all get masses of fresh air together and lots of riding
by themselves and as part of the Pony Club Centre activities.
He is enjoying being back
in lessons, has had his back sorted out and has had a lovely saddle
fitted. He just loves the fuss and the hacks. We are hoping he will
take part in the Grimsthorpe sponsored ride in 2010. |
 |
Hewy
He is an adorable pony
who loves his gymkhana games. He is wonderful on or off the
lead rein.
He loves polocrosse and
games and is such a star in the riding school. |
 |
Crispin
Crispin is a Queensdale
pony and is very elegant. He loves to school and is very obediant
to walk, trot and canter.
He needs to get out and about to broaden his experience and we plan
to take him out to Laughton Manor on Fridays and to other events to
continue his education. |
 |
Emma
Emma is a really nice
middleweight cob. She is wonderful to take out on hacks.
Emma likes to pop a little jump. She is a really safe little
mare without being 'boring'. Emma is going to get out and
about too. She has not been to the beach yet but..... |
 |
Wizz
Wizz started life as a
show pony and was shocked when left to his and his rider's own devices
at first. He came on beautifully and just gets better and
better. He leads well with the occasional kiss on the nose
and loved his trip to the seaside, overcoming his fear of water
to let the waves wash over his hooves. He is such a handsome
dun and has a sweet nature. He is now leased and with us on working
livery, adoring the attention of his adoptive family who get up
to muck him out every morning He gets ridden by his buddy Maddi.
He thinks he has landed in heaven. |
 |
Molly (Moo)
Molly is a wonderful safe
mare who is very easy to lead and useful for beginners. She
recently tried polocrosse and a role as a Sherman tank on the field
riding off lighter ponies is perceived as a possibility. She has
such a lovely nature and remains calm in the most suprising situations.
She cannot make up her mind whether she loves or hates marmite (see
the home page of her pulling a face). Her favourite rides are hacking
out in the countryside. |

Penny
Much to the delight of
many at the riding school Penny returned from stud for a while returned
to finish the hunting season and then was put in foal. What
lovely suprise for her to have a foal quite late in life.
After winning the Chase
me Charlie jumping competition suprisingly beating even the best
of the riding school horses there was concern that she might have
arthritis and would be too old to breed from. She took her
intrepid rider to the opening meet of the Quorn in 2007 hunting
for four hours. He was glad he followed advice to use her recommended
hunting bit! The next day she delighted her jockey taking him
over 4' at the Pony Club rally. She rode out both days without any
need for medication (apart from the oats the riders grandmother
fed Penny). What a relief! She continued hunting with
the Quorn over the Christmas holidays, returned to Bulby then returned
to stud and finally produced a colt foal in August 2009....photo's
to come. He is a bright bay with three white socks...hope
he ends up being as good a jumper as his mum. |

Jasper is doing
fine!
Jasper is a lively pony
who loves jumping and has returned to the yard from loan. He looked
fab when he came out for the first meet of the Cottesmore in the
2007/8 season. He enjoyed his trip out out with Charlotte
doing crosscountry. He was training to do pony club games but has
been outgrown by Charlotte so lets see if those skills develop here.
He is bold and fun out doing jump cross and is always game for the
Joker fence at the end of the course. |
